Summary

As a

Design Estimator

, you will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and system designs for fire installations. Working closely with the sales and project management teams, you will ensure all proposals are technically sound, competitively priced, and meet client and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Interpret client specifications, site surveys and tender documentation to produce accurate design proposals and cost estimates. Carrying out site surveys. Design systems including fire alarms, Aspirating Systems, PAVA, Disabled Refuge & Toilet Alarm Systems. Prepare detailed bills of materials, labour costings, and project programmes. Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure up-to-date and competitive pricing. Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards, industry codes and best practices. Assist the sales team by providing technical support and attending client meetings where required. Collaborate with project managers to ensure smooth handover from pre-sales to delivery phase.

Requirements

Proven experience in the fire industry. Strong technical knowledge of fire detection alarm systems. Proficient in relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g. BS 5839, BAFE). Proficient with all IT systems, Microsoft Office etc, Understanding of CAD software preferable, but training will be offered to the right candidate. CSCS card an advantage. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Desirable:

FIA or other relevant technical qualifications. Ideally suited to someone with an engineering background.
