JOIN OUR RECRUITMENT TALENT POOL FOR THE AIRPORT RESCUE AND FIREFIGHTING TEAM
The purpose of a talent pool is to have successful candidates ready for the final stage of recruitment when a vacancy arises. We will hold your details and the stages of recruitment you have successfully passed for a period of 6 months. In rank order you'd be put forward for the final stage of recruitment when the next vacancy arises.
After the 6 month period, if you have remained in the talent pool, we will contact you to check whether you'd like to continue to be held in our talent pool, and if you do, we'll check if there is any information that you'd like to update with us.
THE ROLE
As an Airport Fire Fighter, you'll contribute to the development of airside safety by reducing the risk to passengers, the community and environment. Primarily we're here to protect and save people from fire and other hazards in the safest, most competent and effective manner. Whilst fighting fires is not an everyday occurrence, you could be called to any type of incident, either minor or major and we prepare ourselves for this with regular training being a big part of the role. In addition to training, we're also involved with supporting our integrated operations, provide on-site medical expertise, actively monitoring aviation safety, conducting runway surface inspections, wildlife management and perimeter security.
Of course, a good level of fitness and eyesight, along with a clean driving license and being able to obtain and maintain HGV, are essential. Initial training is intense, and your competence is continually assessed. We're interested in what you can bring to this team rather than what you've done in the past.
We operate on a 3 watch shift roster and standby basis and a high level of security clearance is a requirement for the role.
At this stage, this is an open recruitment campaign and we'll be undertaking the first review of received applications in early July. The assessment day will include a fitness test as well as various fire service related tasks. The fitness test will be a 20-metre bleep test to the level of 8.8.
If you'd like to hear more about this really exciting opportunity and talk informally about whether this is an option for you, please email Charlie or Phil on Charlie.dufeu@ports.je or phil.faulkner@ports.je.

About Ports of Jersey
We are a 370+ strong team of air traffic controllers, coastguards, accountants, engineers, fire fighters, port operations, security specialists, pilots, project managers, technicians, passenger service agents and many, many more. We are tremendously conscientious people with enormous pride in serving our island.
We provide the connectivity that is critical to Jersey's economy and islanders' quality of life, whether to visit friends and relatives, to access specialist medical care and education, as well as to travel on holiday and business.
We keep the Island running, often without people even noticing us. Islanders depend on our lifeline freight links for the food we eat, the clothes we wear and the materials we build, furnish and heat our houses with.
At the same time, we have ambitious plans for the future. We are on schedule for the biggest capital investment since our incorporation, with plans to regenerate and transform the Harbour. Plans which will be built with our stakeholders and the community.
We're also planning to play our part in the biggest challenges of our lifetime: climate change and biodiversity loss. For anyone in the travel industry, a conversation about the subject is never going to be an easy one, but we're finalising an ambitious and authentic sustainability plan, to not only offset the emissions the links to Jersey create but to go much further. We're looking at initiatives that will truly make an impact, to our island and our planet. While also making a difference to our community.
