Job Type: Full time (Monday to Friday), permanent

Salary: 60,000 per annum, rising to 63,000 following probation.

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset (on-site)

Red One Ltd is seeking an experienced and motivated Fire Station Manager to manage our full-time Fire and Rescue Service at Hinkley Point C - Europe's largest construction site.

The role:

As Fire Station Manager, you'll oversee day-to-day operations of the on-site Fire and Rescue Service, leading a team of approximately 50 staff across four watches. This is a key leadership role, balancing strategic oversight with operational readiness and team development.

You'll foster a proactive health and safety culture, ensure compliance with relevant policies, and build strong stakeholder relationships across the site.

Please note:

Due to the nature of the site and transport requirements, applicants must live within a commutable distance of Bridgwater (TA5) to access the designated site transport system.

Duties will include:

Leading on-site Fire and Rescue Service operations, maintaining high operational readiness. Promoting site-wide fire safety, delivering risk mitigation and ensuring compliance with Red One policies. Supporting staff development, welfare and performance. Overseeing incident command and emergency response. Conducting site inspections, audits, debriefs and investigations. Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders. Maintaining accurate records on training, qualifications, attendance and risk assessments.

What we're looking for:

This is a dynamic, site-based role combining strategic leadership with hands-on operational oversight.

You'll manage performance, training and safety, ensuring the fire station remains resourced, compliant and ready to respond.

We are open to both operational and non-operational applicants. If you do not meet the operational fitness or incident command requirements, you may still be considered for a leadership-focused, non-operational version of the role.

Eligibility Requirements:

You must have the

right to work in the UK

- we are unable to offer sponsorship. You must be

eligible for Security Clearance (SC)

due to the high-security nature of the site. If successful, we will guide you through and manage the full security clearance process required to work at Hinkley Point C. You must live within a

commutable distance of Bridgwater (TA5)

to access site transport (bus).

Essential Requirements:

Operational knowledge and experience, ideally at Station Commander level. Ability to lead teams and manage performance effectively. Strong communication and instructional skills. Working knowledge of fire safety. Good computing and administrative skills. A good level of fitness.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

Competent Station Manager with Level 2 Incident Command. Assessor and/or teaching qualification. Experience managing a full-time fire station. Institute of Fire Engineers Level 3 Diploma. Industrial, aviation or local authority fire and rescue services experience. High Volume Pump operations. First Aid at Work (or equivalent qualification). City & Guilds High Risk Confined Space and Emergency Rescue and Recovery (or Rescue 3 equivalent). Rope rescue qualification: IRATA L1-3, SPRAT L1-3 or Rescue 3 Rope Rescue Operator or equivalent.

Why join us?

At Red One, you'll be part of a highly skilled and dedicated team delivering fire and rescue services on one of the UK's most complex sites. Working on-site at Hinkley Point C, you'll be part of a close-knit watch structure, supported by a leadership team that values collaboration and continuous improvement.

This is more than just a management role - it's an opportunity to lead and shape a high-performing service in a unique environment.

We offer a competitive salary, development opportunities and the chance to make a real impact on the safety and resilience of a nationally significant project.

Closing Date: Sunday 13th July.

We review applications as we receive them and may close the vacancy early if we're inundated with strong candidates, so we encourage early applications.
We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly encourage interest from underrepresented groups in the fire and emergency services.
