Description

Job Type: Full time (Monday to Friday), permanent

Salary: 60,000 per annum, rising to 63,000 following probation.

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset (on-site)

Red One Ltd is seeking an experienced and motivated Site Operations Manager to manage our full-time Fire and Rescue Service at Hinkley Point C - Europe's largest construction site.

The role:

As Site Operations Manager, you'll oversee day-to-day operations of the on-site Fire and Rescue Service, leading a team of approximately 50 staff across four watches. This is a key leadership role, balancing strategic oversight with operational readiness and team development.

You do not need to come from a fire service background

. We are looking for a strong leader with a background in managing large teams, ensuring operational excellence and driving safety and compliance in complex environments such as construction, logistics, manufacturing, engineering or other regulated sectors.

You'll foster a proactive health and safety culture, ensure adherence to internal and external policies and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across the site.

Please note:

Due to the nature of the site and transport requirements, applicants must live within a commutable distance of Bridgwater (TA5) to access the designated site transport system.

Duties will include:

Overseeing the delivery and daily operations of an on-site Fire and Rescue Service, ensuring high levels of service readiness. Leading and inspiring a specialist operational workforce of 50 staff with a strong focus on safety, performance and professional development. Promoting site-wide safety culture, supporting risk mitigation and ensuring compliance with Red One's policies. Driving staff development, welfare and performance. Overseeing emergency response protocols, inspections, audits, debriefs and investigations. Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders on-site. Maintaining accurate records on training, qualifications, attendance and risk assessments. Supporting service delivery within a highly regulated, safety-critical environment.

What we're looking for:

This is a dynamic, site-based leadership role that combines day-to-day operational management with strategic oversight. You'll bring strong people leadership, confidence in high-stakes environments and a structured approach to compliance and service delivery. The Site Operations Manager role is a hands-on, site-based role that requires confident decision-making, calm under pressure, and a practical approach to team and risk management.

Essential Requirements:

Proven experience in leading large operational teams, ideally within a regulated, safety-critical or technical environment. Ability to manage performance, lead change and drive a culture of safety and accountability. Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and people management skills. Sound organisational and administrative abilities, including reporting and compliance tracking. You must be

eligible for Security Clearance (SC)

due to the high-security nature of the site. If successful, we will guide you through and manage the full security clearance process required to work at Hinkley Point C. You must live within a

commutable distance of Bridgwater (TA5)

to access site transport (bus). You must have the

right to work in the UK

.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

Experience managing operations or working in infrastructure, engineering, logistics, manufacturing, construction, utilities, military or emergency services. Familiarity with emergency response protocols, health and safety audits or compliance frameworks. First aid or emergency planning qualifications. Previous fire service or incident command experience is welcome but not required.

Why join us?

At Red One, you'll be part of a highly skilled and dedicated team delivering fire and rescue services on one of the UK's most complex sites. Working on-site at Hinkley Point C, you'll be part of a close-knit watch structure, supported by a leadership team that values collaboration and continuous improvement.

This is more than just a management role - it's an opportunity to lead and shape a high-performing service in a unique environment.

We offer a competitive salary, development opportunities and the chance to make a real impact on the safety and resilience of a nationally significant project.

Closing Date: Wednesday 23rd July

We review applications as we receive them and may close the vacancy early if we're inundated with strong candidates, so we encourage early applications.

We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly encourage interest from underrepresented groups in the fire and emergency services.
