Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our Fish and Chip Shop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing delicious food, serving customers, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a busy restaurant environment and develop culinary skills. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. The position is suitable for someone who is organised, efficient, and passionate about delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

Prepare fish and chips according to established recipes and standards Serve customers in a friendly and professional manner Take orders accurately and handle cash transactions using the till system Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, dining area, and equipment in accordance with food safety regulations Manage food stock levels and assist with stock rotation Upsell additional items such as sauces, drinks, or sides to maximise sales opportunities Ensure all health and safety guidelines are adhered to at all times Assist with general cleaning duties to keep the shop tidy and hygienic Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operation

Requirements

Previous experience in food preparation or restaurant service is desirable but not essential; training will be provided Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods Strong customer service skills with a friendly demeanour Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary preparation and upselling techniques Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if required
