Position Overview

We are seeking a

skilled and reliable Fish & Chip Shop Assistant

with proven experience in fast food or takeaway environments. The ideal candidate will be confident in cooking, food preparation, and customer service, ensuring our shop maintains high standards of quality, speed, and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

Cooking & Food Preparation

Prepare and cook fish, chips, and other menu items to consistent standards. Operate fryers, grills, and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Monitor cooking times and portion sizes to maintain quality and reduce waste.

Customer Service

Serve customers promptly and politely at the counter or over the phone. Handle cash and card transactions accurately. Provide menu guidance and ensure a positive customer experience.

Shop Operations

Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and stock checks. Maintain hygiene and food safety standards in line with regulations. Restock supplies and ingredients as needed. Support colleagues to keep the shop running smoothly during busy periods.
Requirements

Previous experience in a

fast food, takeaway, or fish & chip shop

environment (essential). Ability to cook and operate fryers confidently. Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety practices. Good communication skills and a customer?focused attitude. Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work in a fast?paced setting. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
Desirable Skills

Experience handling high?volume service periods. Knowledge of portion control and cost management. Team player with a proactive approach to problem?solving.
