Job Purpose:
To oversee the daily operations of the chip shop, ensuring high standards of food quality, customer service, cleanliness, and staff performance. The role includes hands-on frying duties, stock control, and management responsibilities to maximise efficiency and profitability.
Operational Duties:
Prepare, cook, and serve food to a high standard, with a focus on frying chips, fish, and other menu items.
Monitor portion sizes, cooking times, and food presentation to maintain consistency.
Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health, and safety regulations at all times.
Manage the fryer area efficiently during peak service times.
Management Duties:
Supervise, train, and motivate staff to deliver excellent customer service.
Organise staff rotas to ensure adequate cover during busy periods.
Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and manage deliveries to minimise waste and control costs.
Handle cash management, tills, and daily reconciliation.
Address customer complaints and resolve issues professionally.
Housekeeping:
Maintain cleanliness of the fryer station, kitchen, and front-of-house areas.
Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained, and in safe working order.
Implement cleaning schedules and ensure all staff adhere to them.
Skills & Attributes:
Proven experience working in a fish & chip shop, takeaway, or fast-food environment.
Strong frying and food preparation skills.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage busy service periods.
Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety standards (Level 2/3 Food Hygiene Certificate desirable).
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: 16.00-17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 - 45 per week
