Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Counter Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring a smooth operation at the counter. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, good organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

Responsibilities

Serve customers promptly and courteously at the counter, taking orders and processing payments accurately Assist with food preparation, ensuring all items meet food safety standards Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the counter area and surrounding workspace Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities while providing excellent customer service Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system Restock supplies and ensure all ingredients are fresh and properly stored Follow health and safety regulations diligently, including food safety procedures Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service delivery

Skills

Experience in food service, restaurant work, or kitchen environments is advantageous Knowledge of food safety standards and practices Basic maths skills for handling cash and processing transactions Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting Culinary experience or food preparation skills are a plus Time management skills to prioritise tasks during busy periods Upselling techniques to enhance customer experience and sales performance
