Job Description

Here at McGill's, we are recruiting for a skilled and motivated Fleet Engineer to join our fantastic Engineering Team. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your engineering expertise, take responsibility for the maintenance and performance of our fleet, and contribute to the continued success and growth of our business. This role will be working around all our depot in the Central Scotland area.

Our modern fleet - including the latest low-emission and electric vehicles - offers the chance to work with cutting-edge technology. If you don't yet have experience with electric vehicles, don't worry we'll provide industry-leading training delivered locally, meaning no time away from home.

Working closely with the Depot Management Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our fleet of buses and coaches are maintained to the highest standards, keeping our passengers safe and our services running smoothly in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll bring:



Deliver agreed projects and plans within defined budgets.

To identify, validate and implement new opportunities for improved performance in safety, efficiency, and profitability, and working with Engineering Managers to share these improvements.

Carry out checks and audits to provide assurance to the Group Engineering Director and the Executive Leadership Team that all depots are operating in accordance with McGill's engineering standards, health & safety policies, safe systems of works and current legislation.

Ensure all Engineering Team employees have been trained appropriately and keep up to date with engineering standards and qualifications.

Liaise with DVSA, SPT and local teams forming strong working relationships along with internal teams and Managers in support of the Operator's licence.

Assist Engineering Managers with the production of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work to ensure a safe working environment.

Monitor and manage performance to help identify risk, negative trends and early warning indicators relating to roadworthiness compliance across the depots.
