Job Description

Purpose of job:



The Fleet Manager at BELFOR UK is responsible for overseeing and optimising the performance, compliance, and cost-effectiveness of our national fleet of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and small car fleet, currently managed in partnership with a specialist fleet management company (SFM). The Fleet Manager owns the relationship with the SFM and holds the SFM to account. The Fleet Manager (FM) is supported by a Fleet Administrator. The FM influences behaviours of BELFOR drivers by providing insight and challenge to senior stakeholders such as the Directors. The Directors use this insight to help them fulfill their accountability for behaviours and the consequences such as cost. A focus of the role is to long term forward plan to ensure the procured Fleet is appropriate for the needs of the business.

The FM's time must, insofar as possible, be focused on "many vehicles and/or many drivers". The Fleet administration of issues relating to individuals and/or individual vehicles is, insofar as possible, be the responsibility of Fleet Administration being internal and/or SFM.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Fleet Oversight



The internal owner of the BELFOR UK vehicle fleet, ensuring it meets business needs.

Owns BELFOR's relationship with the SFM and other relevant suppliers such as those involved in fitting out.

Provide strategic input on fleet size, composition, replacements, fit out, and allocation.

Help shape SLA and KPI to measure performance and deliver appropriate performance.

Maintain an accurate fleet roadmap and lifecycle plan for CFO approval.

Champion data?driven decisions using telematics and cost analytics.

Supplier & Contract Management

Monitor the performance of outsourced fleet partners against SLAs.

Escalate and resolve service issues to ensure high levels of service continuity.

Review and renegotiate contracts or terms where necessary with the CFO.

Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure fleet compliance with UK road laws and corporate responsibilities.

Own internal policy and processes for driver responsibilities and vehicle use.

Ensure H&S is provided with appropriate information by SFM relating to incidents, investigations, and safety standards.

Cost & Performance Management



Monitor total cost of ownership (TCO [leasing, fuel, maintenance, downtime, damage]) across the fleet. The FM strongly influences TCO but material aspects are outside the FM's control. Excessive repairs may be attributed to poor driver behaviours - others are accountable.

Identify inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities using telematics and reporting.

Provide monthly fleet performance reporting for CFO to inform and challenge SMT.

Driver & Operational Support

Communicate policies and vehicle responsibilities to regional managers and drivers.

Support driver engagement and safe driving initiatives.

Ensure effective vehicle allocation aligned to operational requirements.

Align vehicle allocation to operational needs, minimising downtime and over?utilisation.

Team Leadership

Line manage the Fleet Administrator, providing direction, priorities, and development.

Work with CFO to ensure clear roles and responsibilities between internal admin and external fleet partners.

Oversee internal processes that support improved service delivery and compliance tracking.

Key Skills & Experience Essential:



Experience overseeing a commercial vehicle fleet with outsourced providers.

Strong knowledge of UK vehicle compliance and legal obligations.

Proven track record managing third-party suppliers and interpreting performance data.

Demonstrated ability to coach and influence driver behaviour through others

Analytical mindset with experience in budgeting, cost control, and reporting.

Effective communicator, able to liaise with drivers and senior leadership.

Mechanical empathy - Practical understanding of vehicle mechanics and maintenance.

Desirable:



Knowledge of telematics, leasing systems, and fleet software platforms.

IOSH/NEBOSH or similar H&S qualifications.

Experience in a reactive or logistics-intensive sector.

Engineering qualification

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 38,000.00-40,000.00 per year
