We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fleet Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of a company's fleet of vehicles and equipment. This role ensures all vehicles operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with UK legislation, including DVSA requirements. The Fleet Mechanic works closely with fleet managers, drivers, and workshop staff to minimise downtime and keep vehicles roadworthy.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and safety inspections on cars, vans, trailers, or plant equipment.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
Repair or replace engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension components, and other vehicle parts.
Conduct MOT-style pre-checks and ensure compliance with DVSA, Operator Licence, and company safety standards.
Record all work completed in accordance with company and regulatory requirements, including maintenance logs and inspection sheets.
Respond to roadside breakdowns and provide mobile repairs when required.
Assist with parts ordering, stock control, and workshop organisation.
Liaise with drivers, fleet supervisors and plant manager to prioritise repairs and vehicle availability.
Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant workshop environment.
Road-test vehicles to confirm repairs and ensure safe operation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ / SVQ in Light Vehicle Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or Plant.
Proven experience as a mechanic, technician, or fitter (automotive, HGV, PSV, or plant).
Strong knowledge of UK roadworthiness standards, MOT requirements, and DVSA regulations.
Full UK driving licence; HGV Category C or D licence is an advantage.
IRTEC, IMI, or manufacturer-specific certifications are desirable.
Competence using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools.

Possible on-call or roadside repair duties as needed
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: 15.00-20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
