We are seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our internal fleet of pick-up trucks. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong mechanical and electrical skills to contribute to the safety and reliability of our fleet. The position is in our fully-equipped workshop and no own-tools/equipment are required.
Hours
We are flexible in number of hours per week, although around 15, or above would be required so this would suit a candidate who is looking to scale back from full-time work, or looking for additional hours to supplement another role.
Responsibilities
Monitor and report on fleet costs, fuel costs and pre-emptive works.
Liaising with test centres for MOTs.
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using technical manuals
Perform repairs using hand tools, power tools, welding, soldering, and fabrication techniques
Repair or replace faulty components such as engines, clutches, brakes, electrical systems, and hydraulic parts
Fabricate custom parts or modifications as required to meet operational needs
Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance activities
Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies
Assist in the assembly of new equipment or modifications to existing machinery
Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with internal teams regarding repair status and timelines
Managing stock of parts, consumables and expendables.
Other business engineering activities, as required.
Skills
Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in equipment repair and maintenance
Level 2 or above in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent knowledge through experience)
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators and forklifts
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Good organisational skills for record keeping and task prioritisation
Previous experience in a vehicle workshop setting
Previous experience with MIG and/or TIG Welding is preferable.
