Job Title: Flooring Sales Estimator and Salesperson
Location: Floormaster, Barnsley.
Reports To: Operations Manager / Director (Sales Only)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, Monday-Friday (8am-5pm). Including one Saturday per calendar month to be paid at overtime rate.
To provide accurate flooring estimates, managing client relationships, and closing sales with confidence. This hybrid role blends field-based technical estimating of flooring projects with the consultative sales process. You will work closely with clients to understand their flooring needs, offer expert advice, and guide them through the product selection and installation process.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct site visits to assess flooring requirements and prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates, including materials, labour, and installation.
A keen eye for attention to detail is imperative to ensure precise estimates and superior customer service.
Advise customers on flooring options (carpet, wood, vinyl, laminate, lvt, etc.) and recommend suitable products based on needs and budget.
Generate and follow up on quotations and sales leads.
Maintain relationships with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Meet or exceed monthly sales targets and KPIs.
Coordinate with installation teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of flooring trends, products, and installation techniques.
Keep accurate records of estimates, contracts, and client communications using CRM systems.
Support the purchasing team by advising on material requirements and product specifications based on sales estimates.
Provide support in the warehouse or buying department to assist with holiday cover or during periods of high demand, as required.
Requirements:
Essential:
Proven experience in flooring estimation and/or sales (minimum 2 years preferred).
Strong knowledge of various flooring types and installation methods.
Excellent numerical, analytical, and measuring skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated with a strong sales drive.
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle (if site visits are required).
Ability to read blueprints and floor plans (preferred but not required).
Desirable:
Experience in both residential and commercial flooring projects.
Background in interior design or construction.
CRM software experience (Realitex, Office 365).
Working Conditions:
Field and showroom-based work with occasional evening or weekend appointments.
Travel to client sites within Yorkshire Area.
