The Role:
We're seeking a hands-on Operations Manager with proven kitchen management experience who can deliver exceptional hospitality while running a tight, efficient operation. This role requires someone who excels at both backend operational management and creating a warm, engaging customer experience.
Key Operational Responsibilities (70% of the role):
Drive kitchen operations with clear production schedules, prep lists, and quality control measures
Apply extensive culinary knowledge to maintain food consistency and quality across all dishes
Actively participate in food preparation
Develop and refine recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines
Conduct regular taste tests and quality checks throughout service periods
Implement effective mise en place systems to ensure smooth service execution
Develop and maintain detailed procurement processes, including inventory management, supplier negotiation, and cost control
Create and manage staff rotas to ensure optimal coverage while controlling labor costs
Implement robust stock management systems to minimize waste and maintain consistent food quality
Oversee daily financial operations including cash handling, reconciliation, and budget adherence
Execute strict compliance with all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations
Conduct regular training sessions on food safety protocols and maintain proper documentation
Lead daily pre-service inspections to verify all equipment and procedures meet safety standards
Implement and enforce robust allergen management protocols
Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory updates in food safety
Hospitality Leadership Responsibilities (30% of the role):
Lead and inspire a dedicated team through example, fostering a culture where everyone feels empowered to deliver their best
Set and maintain high service standards that reflect the principles of "unreasonable hospitality"
Create an environment where team members anticipate guest needs and deliver exceptional experiences
Ensure all customer interactions are warm, genuine, and memorable
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum 3+ years of proven experience in food service operations management, ideally in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated track record in kitchen operations, including production planning and procurement
Strong culinary knowledge and hands-on food production experience, preferably with Middle Eastern or Mediterranean cuisine
Verifiable experience in food preparation, recipe development, and quality control
Thorough understanding of ingredients, flavor profiles, cooking techniques, and food presentation
Verifiable experience in staff scheduling, labor cost management, and team leadership
Strong financial acumen with experience in food cost control, inventory management, and P&L responsibility
Valid Food Safety Level 3 certification
Proficiency with POS systems, inventory management software, and scheduling tools
