The successful candidate will work closely with the production, quality, and R&D teams to ensure products meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards while driving product innovation to meet market trends.
Key Responsibilities
Research and develop new food products and recipes in line with brand strategy and market demand.
Improve and optimize existing product formulations for taste, texture, shelf-life, and cost efficiency.
Conduct product trials and scale-up recipes from kitchen to factory production.
Monitor raw materials, ingredients, and finished products to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
Work with suppliers to source and evaluate new ingredients and packaging solutions.
Conduct sensory evaluations and shelf-life testing on products.
Ensure compliance with relevant UK food legislation, safety standards, and labeling requirements.
Maintain accurate product specifications and technical documentation.
Liaise with production teams to troubleshoot process or quality issues.
Support the Quality Assurance team with HACCP plans, allergen management, and audits (BRC/IFS/ISO).
Qualifications & Skills
Degree in
Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field
(or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in food product development, quality control, or food manufacturing.
Strong understanding of food safety standards, UK/EU regulations, and HACCP principles.
Creative and innovative with a passion for food trends and consumer insights.
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with production, marketing, and supply chain teams.
Strong documentation and presentation skills.
Preferred Experience
Previous work in bakery, confectionery, ready-to-eat meals, or FMCG food production.
Experience with product launches from concept to commercialisation.
Knowledge of allergens, shelf-life testing, and labeling compliance.
