University of Glasgow Men's Football Club - 3rd Team Head Coach



The University of Glasgow Men's Football Club is looking to recruit an U20s team assistant coach for its men's programme for the season 2025/26.

Background



Glasgow University Football Club was formed in 1877 and is one of the most competitive and successful University sports clubs. The club is a full member of the Scottish FA (SFA) and current SFA licenced club. Our first team compete each year in SFA Scottish Cup and SFA South Region cup

Within the club there are 5 different squads; 1st team, U20s team, 2nd team, 3rd team and 4th team, who all compete to a high level in Saturday (WOS senior football league, WOSFDL and SAFA) and Wednesday (BUCS) football.

The club has progressed hugely under the SFA Licensing requirements and we have now created an established performance ethos and culture within the club leading to a number of successful seasons including promotions and cup finals in the last couple of years. At the heart of our philosophy is to create a performance culture developed by our coaches and players to ensure the best possible footballing experience for all. We boast access to top class facilities with our training facility at Garscube while our 1stTeam plays all home games at Airdrie FCs Excelsior Stadium.

We are actively seeking applications in the form of a covering letter and CVs from enthusiastic, highly motivated, and aspiring coaches committed to helping the club continue to progress for next season and beyond.

Position Available



As U20s assistant coach, you will be expected to support our current coach, Jamie Lee, in delivering training sessions, and assisting during matches as well. The season runs from September - April (final date tbc).

Commitment



Training on Monday and Thursday evenings. Matchdays on Friday nights.

Roles and Responsibilities



Assist with planning, delivery and evaluating quality football activities which meet the aims and objectives of University of Glasgow Football Club (Technical, Tactical and Physical). To deliver activities as part of a planned progressive programme to develop players technically, tactically, socially, and psychologically. Prepare venue, equipment, and all activities in line with minimum operating standards making the safety of student's paramount. Support the development of the clubs developing curriculum and philosophy. Prepare suitable match day preparations and tactics. Regularly evaluate player and team performance identifying development strategies to achieve results. Regularly communicate with, Head Coach, other coaching staff, committee members, players, and support staff. Liaise with club committee to plan team logistics. Reflect on individual coaching ability to improve with each session. Develop players to progress through our club pathways.

Key Skills and Experience



Applicants must have a minimum of UEFA C Licence or equivalent qualification. Organisation to use time efficiently and effectively. Strong communication to effectively motivate players and volunteers. Engagement with players to build a strong team culture. Provide structured planning and make best use of time available. Show an appropriate level of technical & tactical knowledge. Demonstrate honesty and commitment to learn and share as part of a coaching team.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 500.00-800.00 per year
