The Football Pastor will serve as both a spiritual leader and a community builder within London Rangers FC and the wider London Rangers Church family.
This is a pioneering ministry role for a pastor who feels called to use
football as a form of mission
, creating a bridge between faith and sport.
You will lead Bible-based devotionals, provide pastoral care to players and staff, and help nurture a new faith community through the game.
As part of the
London Rangers Church launch team
, you will help shape a church that grows from the football pitch -- reaching players, families, and supporters with the hope of Christ.
Key Responsibilities
Provide spiritual and pastoral leadership within the football club environment.
Lead pre-match or post-match devotions, prayer gatherings, and team reflections.
Mentor and disciple players, coaches, and volunteers in their faith journey.
Build relationships with players and families, offering encouragement and pastoral care.
Work alongside the Sports Chaplain, Cafe Minister, and develop our coaching team to grow a united sports and faith community.
Support outreach events, tournaments, and mission activities that connect football with church life.
Preach or teach occasionally within London Rangers Church or small group settings.
Ensure safeguarding, inclusion, and Christian integrity in all activities.
Person Specification Essential
A committed
Christian pastor or minister
, rooted in biblical faith and practical mission.
A passion for football and using sport as a tool for ministry.
Experience leading small groups, prayer gatherings, or church teams.
Strong interpersonal skills - able to relate across cultures, ages, and backgrounds.
Pioneering and adaptable, ready to help plant and grow a new church community.
Willing to work evenings and weekends alongside football fixtures and events.
Desirable
Background in football coaching, chaplaincy, or youth/community ministry.
Basic understanding of player development and the football environment.
Experience mentoring young men and women in sport or ministry contexts.
FA Safeguarding or Chaplaincy UK training (can be provided).
