My Little Explorers Forest Nursery is seeking an experienced
Level 3 Forest School Leader / Forest School Practitioner
to join our outdoor early years team in Romsey. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic
outdoor educator
who is passionate about
Forest School, EYFS, outdoor learning, and child-led play
.
This is a fully outdoor role, working with children aged
3-5 years
, in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality
Forest School sessions
including fire circle, bushcraft, tool use and outdoor play
Support children's learning and development in line with
EYFS
and
Forest School principles
Carry out
dynamic risk assessments
and maintain a safe outdoor learning environment
Promote independence, confidence and appropriate risk-taking
Observe, assess and record children's development
Act as a
key person
and build strong relationships with children and families
Work collaboratively within a supportive
early years team
Communicate effectively with parents and carers
A Day in the Life
Welcoming children to the outdoor setting and gathering around the fire circle
Leading forest school activities such as den building, nature crafts and campfire cooking
Supporting safe tool use and bushcraft skills
Encouraging exploration, climbing and problem-solving
Observing and capturing learning moments outdoors
Planning with colleagues based on children's interests and seasonal changes
Required Qualifications & Experience
Level 3 Forest School qualification
(essential)
Experience working in a
Forest School, Forest Nursery or outdoor early years setting
Strong knowledge of
EYFS
and safeguarding requirements
Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply)
Confident working outdoors in all weather
Skills & Personal Qualities
Passion for
outdoor learning and Forest School ethos
Positive, proactive and adaptable approach
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to build warm, secure relationships with children
