Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled

Forklift Operative

to join our fast-paced food production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment within our refrigerated warehouse environment. This position requires attention to hygiene standards, temperature control, and safe handling of perishable goods, ensuring the flow of goods in and out of the facility.

Duties

Operate forklifts (Counterbalance, Reach Truck, PPT) to load, unload, and move food products within the warehouse. Handle chilled and ambient goods with care and in accordance with food safety regulations. Ensure accurate placement of stock in designated temperature zones. Perform regular inspections and maintenance on forklifts to ensure they are in good working condition. Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, including verifying incoming and outgoing deliveries against documentation. Maintain accurate records of inventory movements. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in line with food safety standards. Handle materials with care to prevent damage during transportation. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment. Help other departments during quiet periods.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a warehouse environment is preferred. Valid forklift certification is required. Proficiency in materials handling techniques, including heavy lifting (up to 25 kg). Previous experience in a food distribution or cold chain environment preferred. Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards. Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes is advantageous. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
