Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our warehouse team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heavy equipment, including forklifts, cranes, and clamp trucks, to efficiently load, unload, and organise materials. This role requires a strong understanding of warehouse distribution, shipping and receiving processes, and materials handling. Prior experience with warehouse management systems, RF scanners, and OSHA safety standards is highly preferred. The Forklift Operator will play a vital role in maintaining smooth warehouse operations while ensuring safety and accuracy in all tasks.

Responsibilities

Operate forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and cranes to load and unload materials safely and efficiently Perform order picking using RF scanners and warehouse management systems to fulfill shipping requirements Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper handling of heavy or fragile items Assist with inventory management by organizing stock in designated areas Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs Follow OSHA safety protocols at all times to maintain a safe working environment Support warehouse distribution activities including shipping & receiving operations Utilize mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting equipment issues when necessary Assist with construction or materials handling tasks as needed within the warehouse setting

Experience

Previous warehouse experience is preferred, especially in shipping & receiving or order picking roles Experience operating heavy equipment, such as forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, and pallet jacks, is required Knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and warehouse safety is essential Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners is a plus Prior supervisory experience in a warehouse environment is advantageous but not mandatory Mechanical aptitude or construction background can be beneficial for troubleshooting equipment issues Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently for extended periods
