The Foundations Physical Activity Officer will work in our Physical Activity & Health team, based within local areas of Cardiff to address physical inactivity in young children and their families. They will work with a wide range of stakeholders across a variety of sectors to build relationships and co-design activities to maximise engagement of young children in physical activity.

Main duties will include:

  • Identify, support and develop local volunteers, leaders, and ambassadors within the communities to utilise their knowledge and networks in to influence others to be physically active.
  • Embed sustainable physical activity programmes into identified communities and settings across Cardiff that experience the greatest inequalities. Increasing engagement of young children (aged 3-7) and their families in inclusive physical activity programmes.
  • Building on the place-based approach of the Move More Strategy, identify & build relevant partnerships and networks from within specific local communities to ensure a collaborative approach to physical activity and sport for development programmes.
  • Develop partnerships and work with a network of stakeholders to build a programme of activities that contribute towards the prevention of sedentary lifestyles from an early age.
What we are looking for:
  • Have a high level of customer service experience, with the ability to respond to requests in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Excellent time management skills to achieve a programme of complementary projects.
  • Ability to identify gaps in provision and work innovatively to create new and sustainable programmes.
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to create sustainable projects for the benefit of the local community.
