We combine creative editorial guidance with industry-level publishing services and rights representation for book-to-film and TV adaptation opportunities.

About the Role

We're seeking ambitious, story-savvy individuals to join our team as

Freelance Book Scouts

. This role is perfect for someone with strong communication skills, a passion for discovering new voices, and an understanding of what makes a manuscript stand out.

As a scout, you'll identify and refer promising authors and manuscripts for acquisition by Nakazzi & Co. You'll work independently, with full access to our internal resources, and have the chance to shape the future of our author list.

This is a

commission-based freelance position

during the first 6 months, with potential to progress into a

part-time salaried contract

once performance and consistency are demonstrated.

Experience & What We're Looking For

Experience in publishing, marketing, communications, or sales is helpful but

not required

. What isrequired is

motivation, independence, and resilience

reaching out to writers

DMing authors

, and

actively scouting

platforms like

Wattpad, Reddit, and TikTok/BookTok/Instagram writing communities

. If you're not

passionate about books

sales, outreach, and consistent follow-ups

, you won't make the minimum. This role suits

self-starters

who take initiative, manage their own time, and deliver monthly reports without reminders. Our top scouts make

impressive commissions

-- but that comes from consistent, proactive work. If you don't put in the effort, you won't earn anything, let alone thrive in the role.

Earnings

450

per author successfully signed to Nakazzi & Co.

per internal manuscript assessment referred by the submissions team. Active scouts can earn

1,500-2,500+ per month

depending on performance.
After a

6-month probation period

, consistent performers may be offered a

part-time, sales-based contract

that includes a

monthly salary (800-1,000)

plus continued commissions.

What We're Looking For

A genuine passion for books and storytelling. An understanding of publishing, author communities, or literary markets. Excellent communication and organisation skills. Self-motivation and ability to work independently. Previous experience in publishing, sales, or marketing (preferred but not essential).
