Freelance Translation Project Manager

Remote, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Job description:

Based in a beautiful rural location, Knockhundred Translations Ltd offers its services to both public and private sector organisations and has a truly global reach, working with clients worldwide. Much of the work we undertake is in the digital media and audiovisual sector, completing multilingual transcription, subtitling and voiceover projects.

We also provide translation and interpreting services in over 200 languages.

Like many of our colleagues in the language industry, we are working hard to keep pace with AI developments and to find ways to fulfil the ever-changing expectations from our clients.

In the first instance, we would be able to offer a few afternoons per week and other ad hoc days to cover annual leave or colleague absences. We expect to gradually be able to offer increased hours as the company gets busier.

We are hoping to attract graduates preferably with experience in the language industry.

All members of the team work from home and so you would need to ensure that you have a quiet workspace, a desk, chair and fast broadband.

The role

? Preparing quotations, deciding on appropriate resources, liaising between clients and linguists, tracking project status, quality assurance, delivering completed projects on time and within budget.

? Quality control. Proofreading and editing of transcripts.

? Possibly undertaking some transcription and subtitling work (training would be provided).

? Assessing source material, preparing media files, moving media files.

? Sourcing new linguists, assessing linguist's applications, updating supplier database.

? Updating Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms if required.

? Writing news items for the website.

? Answering calls and monitoring and answering email traffic on an ongoing basis.

? Approving supplier invoices and dealing with accounts enquiries.

? Maintaining and updating records and archives as appropriate.

? Assisting colleagues with day-to-day activities.

? Assisting in the training and support of work-placement participants or, in the future, of less experienced colleagues.
