Job Description

An exciting opportunity to support the catering management team in overseeing the front of house operations within the Railway Restaurant. Assist in leading and organising the restaurant team to deliver an efficient, high-quality service while maintaining the highest standards of customer care. Ensure a smooth, consistent, and enjoyable dining experience for every guest, while maximising efficiency and profitability in line with company goals.

Key Duties



Support the Catering Manager in the day-to-day operation of the restaurant, ensuring high standards of service and presentation are consistently achieved. Supervise, motivate, and support front of house team members to maintain an efficient and friendly service. Participate in staff training and inductions, ensuring all team members are confident and compliant with company policies and food hygiene standards. Oversee the preparation and serving of food and beverages in a busy catering environment. Operate the till system, including cash handling, reconciliation, and end-of-day procedures. Maintain exceptional levels of cleanliness, housekeeping, and organisation within the restaurant and service areas. Ensure food and drink displays are visually appealing, well-stocked, and reflect current menu offerings. Manage table turnover efficiently to minimise wait times and enhance the customer experience. Assist in the planning and delivery of events, group bookings, and special occasions. Respond directly to customers, resolving queries or issues promptly and professionally. Support the management team in reporting maintenance issues and following up to ensure timely resolution. Contribute ideas for improving service efficiency, customer experience, and overall profitability.

Requirements



Previous experience in a supervisory or similar catering role is preferred. Must be available to work most bank holidays and alternate weekends on a rota basis. Flexibility is expected to cover holidays and sickness. Some evening work will be required during special events. Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills. Well-presented with high standards of personal hygiene and appearance. Commitment to maintaining food hygiene and health & safety standards at all times.

You will be part of a hard-working, supportive team and must be able to work collaboratively with others. Work closely with the Front of House Manager, Catering Director, and senior management team to achieve business goals.

Working Hours: 8.15am-5:30pm (or until duties have been completed), 5 Days per week (plus occasional evening events) Alternate weekend work required.
