Front Of House & Kitchen Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our Christchurch team, supporting both front of house and in the kitchen. We are looking for someone who is passionate about food, eager to develop their skills and committed to delivering excellent service. Reliability, a strong work ethic and a positive attitude are key. You'll be joining a supportive team that values hard work and high standards.

Duties:
- Complete any food prep necessary for the day ahead

- Keeping on top of food date labelling

- Producing a range of food items for the coffee shop, including bagels, toasties, salads, etc.

- Clean and sanitize kitchen utensils, equipment, and work areas

- Assist in receiving and storing food supplies and ingredients

- Help with inventory management, stock rotation & ordering

- Follow all safety and sanitation procedures in the kitchen

- Setting up and organising food stations and storage systems for service

- Completing opening/closing procedures

- Physically fit and able to stand and move around for entire shifts

- Washing up, general cleaning duties around the store

- Taking orders and supporting the team in the front with customer service

- Comfortable in managing a section alone, a strong ability to work independently is important in this role.

- Assisting barista, helping prepare drinks & espresso bases

- Opportunity to help with coffee bean packaging in our roastery area of the store

- Guide customers in selecting retail coffee products and prepare beans to their preferred requests.

Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a customer service and kitchen or food service environment is preferred

- Knowledge of basic food handling and safety practices is a plus

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, even under time of pressure

- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately with time management

- Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 25 - 30 per week
