We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Manager to be the "Responsible Individual" overseeing each of the elements of the quality childcare service we deliver. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and childcare, with the ability to lead a team effectively while fostering a nurturing and engaging environment for children.
As Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that all activities meet the developmental needs of children and comply with relevant CIW regulations and National Minimum Standards. This involves the day-to-day management of the setting, and fostering a culture of leadership that inspires your staff to deliver the highest level of childcare in a safe, happy and stimulating setting.
You will be based in our Full Day Care provision on the Borras Park Primary school site, adjacent to the school building, leading an experienced team of playworkers across our range of full day care services. These include Playgroup, Flying Start, Early Education, Nursery Plus, After-School Club & Holiday Club.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
Manage and organise the day-to-day operations of the setting, safeguarding children and staff, adhering to ratios and ensuring compliance at all times.
Oversee the successful implementation of high-quality Flying Start and Foundation Phase provision for funded three-year olds in line with the Welsh Government framework.
Help staff to plan, prepare and deliver quality teaching opportunities and experiences for children to explore, whatever their stage of development, including 'planning in the moment' and knowledge of the 'curiosity approach.'
Monitor tracking and planning, oversee staff observations on children and maintain accurate records of children's development and attendance. Identify any gaps in learning and support staff with planning the next steps to meet the needs of individual children.
Lead, train, mentor and support all staff, building team spirit and fostering a culture of shared good practice, where every member of staff feels valued and included.
Manage staff induction, staff absence and cover, disciplinary or grievance matters and maintain open lines of communication via regular staff meetings and supervisions.
Liaise and maintain professional working relationships with school staff, Trustees, Health Care bodies, Social Services, Wrexham Early Years team, Flying Start, and external partners such as CIW, Wrexham L.A. and Estyn, completing any documentation required.
Communicate and liaise effectively with parents/carers maintaining strong partnerships and communication, ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met.
Lead action planning for improvement across all areas of the setting, using self evaluation to identify areas for development and inform the Quality of Care statement.
Ensure compliance with health, hygiene and safety regulations in line with CIW standards, evaluating and managing risk, organising staff DBS checks and keeping up to date with documentation and legal requirements around childcare standards and procedures.
Take on the role of safeguarding lead and keep confidential any information regarding the children, families and staff, responding appropriately as soon as concerns arise.
Ensure setting policies, fire drills and emergency procedures are up to date, implemented and reviewed when necessary, so that everyone, including staff, parents and children can engage in processes that safeguard and protect all children.
Observe financial procedures:- monitor income and expenditure, staffing levels, manage Ipal bookings, childcare vouchers, grant applications, WG and LA funding to fully understand and control setting costs.
Organise events and activities that engage both children and parents.
Drive initiatives to enhance and promote the setting's reputation within the community, leading by example, so that prospective parents know that we're the perfect choice!

Already qualified at Level 5 or equivalent.
Essential Qualities:
At least 5 yrs experience in early years education or childcare settings.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
A warm manner that makes every child and staff member feel special as an individual.
A genuine passion for working with children and understanding their needs.
Ability to drive initiatives that promote a positive learning environment.
Ability to use judgement and common sense. Recognise that everything must have a 'why', a purpose.
Level 3+ qualification in Leadership & Management or equivalent experience.
