We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Tutor to provide Functional Skills support in Maths and English to secondary students at a local secondary school. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for fostering academic growth. Duties

Deliver customised tutoring sessions in Functional Skills Maths and English, adapting teaching methods to meet individual student needs Assess students' current knowledge levels and develop appropriate lesson plans Support students with homework, exam preparation, and skill development exercises Foster a positive learning environment that encourages confidence and motivation Track and record student progress, providing feedback to the school/the students' parents/guardians as required Incorporate specialised teaching techniques for students with learning difficulties or special education needs Maintain organised schedules and ensure punctuality for all tutoring sessions

Working hours

The tutoring sessions are held on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 3pm. We are open to applications from candidates who can take on all of these shifts or just some of the days

Requirements

Proven experience in Functional Skills tutoring or teaching Driving licence and access to a car Knowledge of special education strategies and inclusive teaching practices is desirable Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently Passion for education and supporting student development Organised, reliable, and able to adapt lessons to diverse learning styles Educated to undergraduate degree level or higher achieving a minimum 2:1 at undergraduate degree level
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 18.00-20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6 - 18 per week
