Fundraising & Supporter Engagement Manager



Working Hours 30 - 40 hours per week

HAPPA is seeking a motivated, dynamic and strategic

Fundraising & Supporter Engagement Manager

to lead on all aspects of voluntary income generation. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and delivering an ambitious fundraising strategy across multiple income streams to ensure the long-term financial sustainability and growth of the charity.

Working closely with the

Head of Marketing and PR

and senior leadership, the Fundraising & Supporter Engagement Manager will play a key role in identifying opportunities, strengthening existing funding streams and cultivating new partnerships. They will cover the full spectrum of fundraising duties and must be able to think strategically while delivering operationally.

This role requires excellent public speaking skills, strong stakeholder relationship management and the ability to confidently represent the charity both internally and externally. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, capable of building and maintaining meaningful donor relationships and presenting compelling cases for support to a variety of audiences. All efforts will directly support HAPPA's mission of promoting equine welfare, rehabilitation and education.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Public Fundraising



To set and achieve income targets across all fundraising disciplines, in particular developing strategies to maximise unrestricted income. Lead the execution of HAPPA public fundraising strategies to maximise financial, operational and brand returns. Ensure all fundraising and marketing initiatives are planned, delivered, monitored, and evaluated effectively, including the development of business cases for material investment and timely, business critical key performance indicators. Represent the organisation with key supporters, funders, and other key stakeholders. Oversee the development and maintenance of the organisation's supporter CRM database, ensuring efficient and appropriate data capture and data analysis for the purposes of effective fundraising and communications. Develop and implement a Fundraising strategy which considers the current fundraising approach ad the need to introduce new strategies to meet targets. Lead the development of new fundraising initiatives and/or techniques as appropriate. Ensure that all fundraising activity is conducted in adherence with best practice, ethical policy, charity law and standards. To work with relevant staff and other relevant external and partner organisations to maximise all opportunities for joint fundraising and public awareness activities.

Individual Giving and Community Fundraising



To support with the development and implementation of a regular giving strategy, to maximise unrestricted income. To support with the development and implementation of the Membership Scheme through the CRM database, to include lapsed donor and reactivation programme. As part of the membership scheme, you will also be focusing on donor uplift to increase donations. To support with the creation and implementation of a legacy and in memory strategy, to maximise income. In collaboration with the Finance & Legacies Manager. To ensure that the organisational CRM database usage is optimised to facilitate individual giving and community fundraising. Corporate, Trust, Foundation & Statutory Fundraising. To support with the engagement and deepening of relationships with existing partners and donors, either through direct engagement or by supporting and coordinating engagement activity with colleagues. To ensure that the organisational CRM database usage is optimised to facilitate fundraising. Oversee the timely submission of high-quality applications to charitable funders. To work with colleagues across HAPPA to ensure the organisation's work is presented to funders appropriately. To ensure that the grant conditions of existing funders are met, as required. To develop, review and manage an ongoing programme of activity to secure, maintain and develop new and existing corporate support: including financial support, corporate sponsorship, gifts in kind, cause related marketing, payroll giving, employee fundraising and volunteering, in liaison and consultation with key staff members. To support with the negotiation packages of funding with existing and new corporate funders, to maximise benefit for HAPPA and to secure long-term support.

Corporate, Trust, Foundation & Statutory Fundraising



Proactively identify and research new corporate partnership opportunities aligned with HAPPA's mission and values. Develop tailored corporate sponsorship packages and compelling pitches to secure support for events, programmes or core services. Cultivate strategic corporate relationships through regular engagement, impact reporting and recognition plans to build long-term partnerships. Coordinate employee engagement opportunities such as volunteering days, sponsorship matching or workplace fundraising. Create cause-related marketing opportunities and campaigns that mutually benefit HAPPA and its corporate partners. Maintain up-to-date records of corporate contacts, proposals and sponsorship agreements within the CRM system.

Management



Line Management of the Fundraising Volunteers and Receptionists. Supporting the receptionists in delivering exceptional standards of customer care to all stakeholders. Ensure effective working relations, integration, and collaboration between Fundraising and other departments. Manage and motivate to perform to a high standard, conducting appraisal meetings in line with organisational policy and agree and review progress towards individual targets on a regular basis. Develop and implement the departmental annual business plan ensuring that objectives are achieved and reporting quarterly on progress with appropriate KPIs. Ensure effective departmental financial management through monitoring of departmental budgets spend and reporting on variances as required. To support the Head of Fundraising to provide timely progress reports against operational work plans to the Executive Leadership Team. As a manager of the department, the post holder will be expected to contribute to the overall strategic direction and management of HAPPA. Work within the framework of the Charity's core values, promoting its ethos and theory of change. Work towards achieving programme and/or department business plan objectives. Ensure familiarity with and adhere to all HAPPA policies and procedures. Managing team members workloads, working patterns, effectively, particularly when experiencing high demand.

General Responsibilities



Ensure all customer enquiries are monitored and responded too in a timely fashion. Line managing the receptionists in directing enquiries received through telephone calls, emails, and letter correspondence to the correct departmental manager. Responding as and when appropriate. Take ownership of the Membership Scheme, ensuring all supply chains are working smoothly and effectively. Delegate responsibility to those under your line management. Manage the HAPPA Awards ceremony. To dedicate time to the CRM database, ensuring that its implementation allows for maximum benefit to the team and all areas of fundraising. To abide by organisational policies, code of conduct and practice, and to work within a framework of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice. To assist with or, where appropriate, lead on the organisation of HAPPA events and activities. To be flexible within the broad remit of the post.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



EXPERIENCE



Essential:



Experience of effectively managing a Fundraising team. Evidenced track record of successfully meeting and exceeding targets. Evidence of developing successful fundraising applications to trusts, foundations, statutory bodies, bilateral or other institutional grant funders. Demonstrable networking experience to build ongoing relationships. Experience of developing strong partnerships, particularly with Corporates, Trusts & Funding bodies. Proven experience in developing and managing successful corporate partnerships or sponsorship schemes.

Desirable:



Experience of CRM implementation or system transfer.

Outstanding communication skills, including experience of communicating effectively across varied audiences, both verbally and in writing. Able to build strong and lasting relationships with key stakeholders. Excellent organisational, planning and project management skills. Strong business development and negotiation skills with the ability to secure financial or in-kind support from corporate organisations. Ability to tailor communications and fundraising approaches to align with corporate CSR objectives and priorities.

KNOWLEDGE



Essential



Knowledge and understanding of statutory, trust and institutional fundraising, including research sources and funding criteria. Fundraising Regulator guidelines. Understanding of corporate social responsibility (CSR) trends and how they align with charity partnerships.

GDPR and data protection regulation.

EDUCATION/TRAINING



Essential



A minimum of 5 years' experience in Fundraising. A strong academic record, ideally to degree level or equivalent. strong written English.

Desirable



A Fundraising Diploma or professional qualification is advantageous but will not outweigh experience. Relevant continuing professional development.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS



Essential:



Able to demonstrate a commitment and sensitivity of the aims and objectives of HAPPA. Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and equal opportunities.
