Duties

About the Role:
Clarkson's Independent Funeral Directors is seeking a calm, compassionate, and well-presented individual to join our close-knit team as a
Funeral Director
on a part-time basis. This is a vital role that supports families through some of life's most difficult moments with dignity, empathy, and professionalism.
This role includes both arranging and conducting funerals, as well as learning and handling the necessary paperwork and logistics involved in funeral planning. No prior experience is necessary -- full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Meeting with families to arrange and plan funeral services
Learning and completing all required legal and administrative documentation
Conducting funeral services with professionalism and care
Working closely with our existing team to ensure smooth coordination
Participating in a monthly on-call rota for removals (additional pay applies)
Working Hours:
Tuesdays and Thursdays:
Core working days
Additional 4-8 hours per week, flexible (can be worked as a half or full day on another day)
Paid overtime available during busy periods
Opportunity to leave early on quiet days, when permitted
Requirements:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Smart, respectful, and calm under pressure
Able to lift and assist with removals during on-call shifts
Willingness to be part of a monthly on-call rota (1 week/month, scheduled 6 months in advance)
No previous funeral experience necessary -- training provided
Uniform provided for funeral services; smart-casual dress in office
Must be reliable, discreet, and work well within a small team
