GRAPHENE and INTEKA are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
Bespoke Furniture Designer
to join our team. This role suits a designer with strong technical expertise, hands-on knowledge of bespoke furniture production, and confidence working directly with clients, suppliers, and workshop teams.
The Role
You will design and deliver bespoke furniture projects from initial concept through to manufacture and installation, taking ownership of design, specification, material selection, purchasing, and coordination with suppliers and carpenters.
Key Responsibilities
Design bespoke furniture using
Google SketchUp
to a high technical standard
Produce professional
client presentations in Adobe PDF
format
Meet clients onsite to discuss requirements, present designs, and advise on finishes
Source and purchase materials
for all projects, liaising with approved suppliers
Prepare and manage
samples of materials, finishes, and hardware
for client approval
Translate designs into accurate
cut lists for cut and edge suppliers
Work closely with
carpenters and workshop teams
to ensure designs are correctly implemented
Specify and integrate
bespoke furniture components
such as hinges, runners, and specialist fittings
Design and specify
lighting solutions
, including LED strip systems
Ensure designs are practical, buildable, and aligned with production capabilities
Required Skills & Experience
Extensive experience using
Google SketchUp
for bespoke furniture design
Strong knowledge of
woodworking materials
, including MR-MDF, MFC, veneers, and solid woods
Proven experience
sourcing and purchasing materials
for bespoke furniture projects
Strong understanding of
finishing methods
, including painting, oiling, and staining
Experience producing
technical drawings, specifications, and cut lists
Familiarity with furniture hardware, fittings, and integrated lighting systems
Confident communicator with experience meeting and advising clients
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Essential Requirements
Full, clean driving licence
Ability to travel to client sites as required
Right to work in the UK
Desirable
Experience in a
bespoke furniture, joinery, or interiors environment
Understanding of workshop manufacturing and on-site installation processes
