Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and a keen interest in food preparation and service. As a Cafe Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming environment for our customers while ensuring that all food safety standards are met. Previous experience in a restaurant or cafe setting, including barista skills, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting customers with their orders. Prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with established recipes and food safety guidelines. Assist with catering events, ensuring that all requirements are met efficiently and professionally. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cafe area, including tables, counters, and kitchen equipment. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods. Handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly. Support the barista team by preparing coffee and other beverages as needed. Uphold high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in compliance with health regulations.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a cafe or restaurant environment is preferred. Strong hospitality skills with the ability to engage positively with customers. Knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety practices is essential. Barista experience is an advantage but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. A proactive attitude towards learning new skills related to catering and service roles. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends if required.
