Reporting to:
Managing Director
You will be responsible for leading our garden management division.
Responsibilities
As our garden manager, you will be responsible for maintaining, nurturing and developing gardens where a proactive, passionate and conscientious attitude and excellent communication and horticultural skills are vital. You will work
Coordinate with the lead garden designer and managing director to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
Oversee operations to ensure they are cost-effective and efficient
Improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices
Manage purchasing, inventory planning, and warehouse efficiency
Ensure compliance with legal, environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards
Perform quality control checks and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
Recruit, train, and supervise staff
Enhance customer service quality
Prepare fee proposals, quotes, invoices, and payments, ensuring financial accuracy
Monitor and analyse KPIs to identify areas for improvement
Plan and control budgets, capital expenditures, and direct/indirect labour costs
Oversee workforce planning, prioritising high-value project.
Provide regular updates through weekly reports and monthly progress meetings
Chair monthly team meetings to ensure alignment on business goal.
Requirements & Skills
RHS Level 3 with 5 years experience in a similar role
Full UK driving licence
Proficient with Microsoft Suite and Apple product
Strong knowledge of operational and organisational management
Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
Effective self-management to meet deadlines
Ability to develop strong business relationships and manage logistics and supplier coordination
A practical, systematic approach to organising work and process improvement
Capable of capturing customer requirements and creating detailed project specifications
Strong multitasking skills to manage multiple live projects simultaneously.
Attend trade networking events
Desired
PA1/ PA6 Chemical application certificates
Valid emergency first aid at work certificate
Experience
Proven experience as a Garden Manager or similar role
Background in horticulture or landscaping or allied industry is essential
Proven ability to sell products and services successfully
Experience managing teams and overseeing multiple project
Expertise in maintaining health, safety, and environmental compliance
