Key Responsibilities
Carry out the day-to-day maintenance and development of the private house gardens to a high standard.
Undertake all aspects of horticultural work, including: Planting, pruning, deadheading, and seasonal maintenance. Lawn care, including mowing, tending to borders, beds, shrubs, hedges, and ornamental planting. Soil preparation, mulching, feeding, and pest/disease monitoring.
Support the presentation of the gardens throughout the year, including preparation for seasonal changes and special occasions.
Operate garden machinery and tools safely and efficiently.
Service and maintain garden machinery where capable, or report issues as required.
Work collaboratively with other members of the Estate gardening and maintenance teams.
Follow all health and safety procedures and estate policies.
Maintain a tidy, organised working environment at all times.
Respect the privacy of the household, ensuring strict confidentiality and professional behaviour.
Key requirements:
Minimum of
2 years' professional experience
working in gardens (private estates, historic gardens, or high-quality domestic gardens preferred)
Good all-round
plant knowledge
and practical horticultural skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Strong work ethic with attention to detail and pride in high standards
Professional, discreet, and trustworthy manner
Physically fit and able to undertake manual outdoor work in all weather conditions
Desirable:
Ability to
service and maintain garden machinery
(e.g. mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters)
Relevant horticultural qualifications (e.g. RHS or equivalent)
PA1/PA6 spraying certificate, chainsaw ticket, UTV/ATV ticket
Previous experience working within a private household or estate environment
