We are looking for a Gardener to be part of our team here in Tornagrain. We have grounds including open spaces, woodlands, parkland and facilities. The Town has exceptional standards and we work to maintain our specific design code.
Tornagrain has been the recipient of The Landowner Award from The Prince's Foundation, recognised for guiding and developing a conservation area of the future. The candidate will be expected to respect and continue works to maintain Moray Estates' vision for this growing town.
The candidate will be responsible for maintenance of the green space, planting beds, woodland, parkland, wildlife conservation and facilities within Tornagrain. Currently facilities include artificial tennis courts, play park equipment, seating areas, allotments and orchards. This will continue to grow with the increase in size of the development.
The applicant will take pride in Tornagrain, keeping grounds free from litter, debris, weeds, plant diseases, harmful insects, maintain equipment and monitor supplies.
To be successful in this role you need to ensure grounds are pleasant, both visually and operatively at all times.
We are looking for a candidate full-time with hours to follow British summer time 08:00 - 17:00 and British winter time 08:30 - 16:00. Flexibility is required; hours may vary with occasional evening and weekend work.
Key Responsibilities
The Key Purpose of the role will be to maintain Tornagrain to our exceptional standard within the design code, tasks include:
Cutting and maintaining grass to a variety of finishes using appropriate equipment
Cutting and maintaining hedges, pruning and care of the community orchards
Weed, pesticide control, including fertilizer application
Maintenance of herbaceous borders, including bulb planting
Litter-picking and leaf clearing
Maintaining compost heaps
Maintaining tools and equipment to include basic maintenance of machinery
Maintaining good relationships with residents and visitors
Observing all Health and Safety Risk Assessments, COSHH, regulatory and security measures
A willingness to undertake necessary training
Involvement in seasonal events
Essential
At least 2 years relevant practical experience in general gardening and grounds work
Basic demonstrable plant knowledge
Basic knowledge of tool and powered machinery use and maintenance
Working practical knowledge of Health and Safety processes and procedures and the ability to work effectively within
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to take instruction from management and work well with others, whilst being an ambassador for Tornagrain
Full Driving Licence

Ability to undertake basic machinery maintenance and servicing
First Aid Certificate
Chainsaw Certificate(s)
