Lead on gas and mechanical maintenance, fault resolution, and compliance across commercial client sites.
Carry out PPMs and reactive works on boilers, plant rooms, commercial Kitchens and associated systems.
Attend multiple sites as directed by the Mechanical Maintenance Desk to meet operational needs.
Support wider building services, including basic electrical, plumbing, or HVAC tasks as required.
Respond to breakdowns and emergencies promptly and safely.
Maintain accurate documentation, including gas safety records and service reports.
Provide professional client updates and technical advice on site.
Follow and champion all health and safety practices and gas safety regulations.
Continuously develop your skills and keep up to date with new technologies and standards.
This is a mobile role requiring flexibility, including potential work outside standard hours to ensure essential services remain operational.
Superiors and Subordinates
The Commercial Gas and Plant Maintenance Engineer will report to the Line Manager and Contracts manager if one is appointed, or to the Head of Maintenance and ultimately to the managing director and Chairwoman if required due to absence of the other hierarchy.
During periods of leave of the Head of Maintenance will appoint following a handover another suitable person i.e. the Contracts Manager (CM) or Line manager to oversee works being looked after.
Key Responsibilities
Planned, reactive, and statutory maintenance on commercial boilers, heating systems, pumps, valves, and associated plant.
Fault diagnosis, isolation, and repair of gas and mechanical issues.
Testing, purging, and commissioning in line with Gas Safe requirements.
Support installation works, upgrades, and plant refurbishments.
Complete all service and safety certification accurately.
Assist with multi-skilled support when required (electrical, HVAC, plumbing).
Attend and resolve mechanical or gas emergencies promptly.
Essential Qualifications:
Commercial Gas qualifications (COCN1, CODNCO1, CIGA1, CORT1, ICPN1, TPCP1A or equivalent)
Commercial Gas catering qualifications ( CODC1, COMCAT1,COMCAT2,COMCAT3,COMCAT ).
Domestic Gas qualifications ( CCN1,CENWAT,CKR1 HTR1)
Full UK driving license
Eligibility to work in the UK
Desirable Qualifications:
F-Gas or HVAC awareness
Electrical qualification (18th Edition or similar)
IPAF / PASMA
Part G3 Unvented Hot Water
Experience:
Proven experience in commercial gas maintenance and HVAC plant operations
Competence in fault finding, repair, and commissioning of commercial gas systems
Experience with both planned maintenance and reactive callouts
Desirable: mobile role experience, multi-discipline building services background
