General Assistant

Location: Firs Farm Community Hub, Winchmore Hill (N21)

Contract: Zero-hours contract initially, with potential to develop into part-time or full-time

Hours: Flexible, including evenings and weekends

HCP Social Enterprise and Home Care Preferred operate from Firs Farm Community Hub, a vibrant community space set within Firs Farm & Wetlands in Winchmore Hill.

Home Care Preferred is an award-winning domiciliary care provider.

HCP Social Enterprise manages Firs Farm Community Hub, which includes a park cafe, events space, sensory room, and the Home Care Preferred office.

We are seeking a versatile, proactive individual to work closely with the Managing Director across both organisations. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys switching between strategic thinking and practical delivery.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is not a typical office role. The position will initially be offered on a zero-hours contract, providing flexibility for both the organisation and the successful candidate. As the role and events programme grow, there is genuine potential for the position to develop into a part-time or full-time role.

The successful candidate will combine office-based administration with hands-on event support, helping to grow the Hub's reputation, bookings, and community impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist with the online booking system for event spaces

- Manage and coordinate event space bookings

- Organise and support events including music gigs, comedy nights, quizzes, exhibitions, charity events, community events, children's parties and private celebrations

- Network with local businesses and community organisations to promote the Hub

- Assist with social media, PR, and marketing activity

- Liaise with stakeholders, funders, clients, and partners as directed

- Provide hands-on support during events

- Monitor and evaluate performance metrics to identify areas for improvement

- Represent the organisation at external meetings

- Assist with sales calls & networkingfor the care agency

- Provide general administrative and operational support to the Managing Director

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- Events or hospitality qualification desirable but not essential

- Proven experience in a relevant role, ideally within hospitality, events, or community settings

- Strong organisational and time management skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

- Experience in fundraising or revenue generation is an advantage

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is essential

- Availability to work on a zero-hours basis initially

- Driving licence and access to a car highly desirable

- Must have the right to work in the UK

- Must be currently living in the UK

- Must live within a 20-minute commute of N21 postcode

- No sponsorship is available for this role
