We're looking for a motivated and hardworking

General Construction Operative (GCO)

to join our team at HMS, part of Torus Group! This is a hands-on role where you'll be part of an integrated workforce delivering first-class facilities, maintenance, and construction services for our customers and clients. You'll carry out a wide variety of construction, environmental, and maintenance tasks - both internally and externally - while ensuring high standards of quality, efficiency, and customer care.

What you'll be doing:

Carrying out general construction and maintenance activities such as property clearances, excavations, demolition, fencing, painting, groundworks, and remedial works. Supporting tradespeople on site and contributing to our "right first time" approach. Operating company vehicles, tools, and equipment safely and professionally. Managing materials and resources effectively to minimise waste and maximise efficiency. Liaising with customers, colleagues, and contractors to ensure work is completed to a high standard. Maintaining accurate documentation and complying with all health and safety requirements.

What we're looking for:

We're seeking someone with a strong work ethic and a flexible, customer-focused approach. NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a construction or maintenance discipline. Experience in pointing, groundworks, or other construction-related tasks. Valid CSCS card at the appropriate level. Full UK or EU driving licence. Experience in maintenance, environmental clearance, or general labouring. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good communication skills with customers and colleagues.

Interview Process:

Candidates will undergo in-person interviews, consisting of a competency-based interview.
