Company Overview

We are based in Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to the beautiful Snowdonia National Park , and are looking for a flexible, hardworking maintenance/handyman to join our maintenance team at Betws-y-Coed Railway Station.

The station is a busy tourist destination, we like to keep a high standard of presentation for the thousands of visitors the village attracts each year.

The duties of the maintenance/handyman include general maintenance work and completing odd jobs around the station grounds and at the Alpine Coffee Shop, Hangin' Pizzeria, Platform Galeri and Alpine Apartments to ensure they remain in working order. Basic plumbing, electrical knowledge, joinery and experience using hand/power tools are therefore desirable skills for this position.

The role will also include supporting our gardener, if needed, in keeping the station area clean and tidy, maintaining the plants and established garden areas at the station. This could include assisting with trimming hedges, watering, weeding and planting.

We pride ourselves on our unique and artistic design at the station, so duties would also include assisting art projects and installations when required. An eye for design and appreciation for art is therefore desirable.

Our private garden is a short drive from the station and is well established. The duties here would be the same as at the station. We have an established orchard area and herb area which provides produce for our hospitality businesses at the station. We have a handful of chickens in a designated area of the garden, their area will need cleaning weekly. General helping and maintenance around the house with restocking firewood etc.

An occasional request may also be made that you are able to take care of the owners' pets at the house while they are away on short trips.

The successful candidate must have an eye for detail, be able to work independently using own initiative, but also as part of a team, and be able to follow instructions. They will be responsible for performing tasks to keep the businesses and grounds in working order.

We have a schedule of tasks that need doing weekly to keep the station tidy and presentable before completing other jobs that arise.

We will provide all the tools and equipment you will need.

A clean driver's licence is essential for this role and there is a work van on site available for daily use.

Wages are determined based on experience.
