General Operative

Rail Civils

Location -

Inverness, Scotland

We currently have numerous permanent/staff opportunities for multi skilled Labourers/General Operatives within our Scotland Business Unit based from our Inverness depot and delivering rail asset management remits and projects in the surrounding region.

Business Unit

A busy and fast paced project and maintenance environment involving in a range of multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects, working for a varied range of clients including Local Authorities, Network Rail and Environmental.



Projects can typically include civil engineering works and infrastructure projects such as:


Highways & Roads, underbridges, overbridges and footbridges, tunnels, flood alleviation & repairs, earthworks & embankments and rail platforms and station infrastructure etc.



We currently have a number of live infrastructure projects and long term renewals and maintenance frameworks underway including Civils Asset Management (CAM), Renewals Enhancement Framework (REF) and a Slabtrack framework.

The Role

We currently have various permanent / staff positions available based from our Inverness depot supporting rail and civil engineering projects and asset management works in the surrounding region.



Operate and carry out job set tasks. Ensure have been briefed and understand all relevant risk and method statements. Use best/safe practice on all tasks carried out Checks on any equipment that may use. Ensure safe tidy place of work. Ensure the completion of works is on time. Implement best practice procedures. Maximise use of own working time. Ensure signed up to all permits and briefings before commencing any work. Communication with site management. Communicate with site supervisor on any concerns. Feedback to site management with near miss reporting. Ensure attend all site briefings and forums. Other tasks as may from time to time be deemed necessary and are authorised by line managers

Requirements

To excel in this/these positons, you will have previous railway experience as a Multi-Skilled labourer / General Operative. Ideally you will have a valid PTS and must be able to demonstrate the requisite experience in the rail industry.
