The Opportunity



Join Holcim as a

Quarry Operative at our Stoneycombe Quarry

, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of mobile and fixed plant equipment. This position involves operating heavy machinery, maintaining high standards of housekeeping, and contributing to the smooth running of quarry operations. If you enjoy working in a dynamic and safety-focused environment, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your career in the quarrying industry.

Key Responsibilities:



Operate mobile plant machinery, including Loading Shovels, Dump Trucks (rigid and articulated), and Excavators, ensuring daily safety checks are carried out. Operate fixed production plant to ensure consistent product quality and efficient output. Monitor and control the quality of materials being dispatched, ensuring they meet required specifications. Maintain high standards of housekeeping to keep work areas clean, tidy, and hazard-free. Identify and report equipment issues promptly, contributing to the effective maintenance of the site. React effectively to site breakdowns by liaising with maintenance teams and assisting where needed. Accurately document all production data, plant stoppages, and breakdowns to ensure detailed records are maintained. Regularly inspect plant routines and ensure that the cleanliness of plant areas, adjacent buildings, and equipment is upheld. Safeguard the assets entrusted to you, including plant materials, equipment, and stores, ensuring their efficient use. Undertake other tasks as required, aligning with your operational expertise.

Who You Are



You're a motivated and experienced Quarry Operative with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety. Your hands-on approach and ability to work independently or as part of a team make you an ideal candidate for this role.

Previous experience operating heavy machinery in a hard rock quarry or a similar environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with good organisational and time management abilities. Understanding of safety standards and procedures, ensuring all operations comply with site safety policies. Self-motivated, pragmatic, and results-driven, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
