We are seeking a General Operative at our ready-mixed concrete plant in Costessey. Your key responsibility will be to drive the loading shovel and support the concrete plant supervisor with the running of the plant. This may involve batching concrete, ensuring this is done in accordance with our safety, environmental and quality procedures.

You will ensure that concrete orders are dispatched to meet customer requirements and conduct administration tasks, including using IT systems in order to efficiently operate the site. You will also be responsible for assisting our maintenance fitters and business partners in maintaining site housekeeping to a high standard and actively identifying and implementing site improvements. With a focus on environmental standards the role will involve supporting community relations in a constructive and proactive manner.

You will be required to be flexible in duties undertaken, carrying out other tasks on this site or at other sites in the area.

It would be an advantage

if you have worked in a similar role before and have a good understanding of general plant maintenance, and relevant qualifications such as Loading Shovel and First Aid.



You may also support with batching concrete, ensuring it meets our standards and our customers requirements. You may also support our maintenance engineers around the site; helping us to maintain excellent housekeeping standards and carry out site improvements.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise





A genuine interest in the construction materials industry, specifically an interest in driving heavy mobile plant machinery
Experience operating driving mobile plant (desirable)
Previous experience in a similar role (desirable)
First Aid qualification (desirable)
Good communication skills
