The Golf Course & Estates Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance, management, and strategic development of the golf course, practice facilities, and all associated estate grounds. This role ensures that playing surfaces and surrounding landscaped areas meet premier standards, while simultaneously overseeing the maintenance of machinery, irrigation systems, and club infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Course Maintenance:
Lead the daily upkeep of tees, greens, fairways, bunkers, and rough to championship standards.
Estate Management:
Oversee the upkeep of all club grounds, including footpaths, car parks, wooded areas, and exterior landscaping.
Team Leadership:
Recruit, train, motivate, and manage the greenkeeping and estates team, including scheduling, performance reviews, and health & safety training.
Budgeting & Finance:
Prepare and manage annual maintenance budgets, including capital expenditure proposals for machinery and course improvements.
Health & Safety:
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including chemical application, COSHH, and machinery risk assessments.
Irrigation & Drainage:
Monitor and maintain irrigation systems and drainage to ensure optimal turf health.
Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with the Board/Greens Committee to develop long-term course policies and environmental projects.
Machinery Maintenance:
Supervise the care and repair of all turf equipment and estate vehicles.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
Minimum Level 3 NVQ in Greenkeeping, Horticulture, or related field.
Required:
PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certificates.
Required:
Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a golf course environment.
Desirable:
Degree in Agronomy or Turf Management.

Working Conditions
This is a 7-day-a-week operation, requiring flexibility to work weekends, early mornings, and bank holidays, as required.
