Job Description

Kirkbymoorside golf club are reorganising the structure of the greens management team, the key element to this process is to recruit a Golf Course Manager, who will be capable of improving the quality of the course, to ensure we have the best playing conditions year around, to enable us to attract new members, increased levels of visitors and for the course to be considered for high profile regional golf events.The key attributes for this new position are identified following.

1. Ideally have a level 5 Golf Course Manager Qualification. Or be willing to work towards achieving this level of qualification. 2. Manage, promote and maintain a healthy, safe and secure maintenance facility and golf course, for the staff, golfers and members of the public. 3. Effectively manage the greens staff on a daily basis, setting and reviewing daily and weekly tasks and promoting and reviewing on a regular basis their performance through personnel appraisals. 4. Further develop and review the golf course development plan to ensure there are clear objectives and timeframes to further improve the golf course condition and environment. 5. Prepare, submit and manage maintenance and capital expenditure proposals. 6. Ensure effective communication to golf course staff, colleagues, management and members. 7. Present a detailed monthly report to golf course management. 8. Have good IT literacy and be able to identify the appropriate software systems to ensure effective communication and record keeping. 9. Promote the golf club and its core values, as determined by the club management. 10. Be able to develop a network of contacts, to enable discussion on relevant golf course agronomy and ecological issues for the benefit of the golf course.
Knowledge and understanding.The golf course manager must know and understand:

All relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for self, team, golfers and visitors. How to conduct and review risk assessments, relevant to the management and maintenance of the golf course. A core understanding of agronomy, including the identification and control methods for weeds, pests, diseases and disorders and their impact on sustainable playing surfaces. How to plan, manage, implement and review, maintenance, improvement and renovation programmes for the golf course, making optimum use of the resources available. How to plan, manage and construct golf course features. How to manage water use, to ensure greens are irrigated and drained effectively. Be able to plan, lead and record meetings and presentations wherever required. Understand the principles of recruitment, appraisal, conflict, teamwork, staff coordination, supply chain management, performance management and the development of staff. The need for personal and professional development of oneself and their team. The different forms of communication, written, verbal, electronic, including social media, evaluating the best solution for different circumstances.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 40,000.00-45,000.00 per year
