Job summary

We are recruiting for a General Practice Assistant (GPA) support at Larkslfield Surgery in Stotfold by providing administrative and basic clinical assistance. The aim is to help GPs manage their workload more effectively and enhance patient care. The successful candidate will be required to complete the GPA course if not already qualified.

Main duties of the job

A GP Assistant will support the smooth running of clinics by performing routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the clinician freeing up their time to focus on complex patients. You will work closely with patients, management teams, partners, and external services and contacts. You will work as a key part of the Primary Care Network (PCN) multi-disciplinary team to improve the quality and safety of care offered to patients.

Ivel Valley South PCN consists of 3 Member practices and 44,000 patients. We are seeking 1 GP Assistants to be based in our member practices Lower Stondon Surgery and Larksfield Surgery.

We currently employ a range of staff including physiotherapists, care coordinators, pharmacists, paramedics and health coaches.

Job responsibilities

A GPA will support the smooth running of the practice by performing the routine administrative and clinical tasks to aid the GP to focus on the patient.

The post holder will be supporting the GP with the below duties-

Sorting clinical post and prioritising for the GP for actioning

Dipping urine, take bloods/blood pressure, ECGs

Supporting with private work and forms such as insurance/ benefits/ agency forms

Support with vaccinations and wound care

Explaining treatment procedures to patients

Contact and liaise with external services on behalf of the GP

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

GCSE A-C in English and Maths

Desirable

Qualified in HCA duties such as phlebotomy/ECGs/wound care.

Experience with systmone
