Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will support the General Practitioners (GPs) to ensure the efficient provision of medical services and clinics by performing several routine clinical and administrative duties.

Cornerways is a patient focused, two GP partnership with a holistic approach to care. The GPs are supported by a team of professional and experienced clinical and non-clinical staff to provide the highest possible standard of care to approximately 4000 patients. Our limited catchment area allows us to offer our patients same day urgent and same or next working day non-urgent appointments with their named GP. We have consistent positive patient feedback and our staff retention is high.
Job description
The GP assistant role is a developing role that includes both clinical and administrative work. Completion of the GP Assistant Skills Certificate is desirable, though applicants with relevant skills or experience will be considered and supported.
Job responsibilities
Duties may include

Clinical:
NHS Health Checks
ECGs
Venepuncture
Urinalysis
Injections under a PSD e.g B12, NHS adult vaccinations
Record keeping of clinical notes
Chaperoning
Administrative and coordinating care
Primarily: Patient note summarising
When tasked by GP or PM
Explaining treatment procedures to patients and signposting to information
Referral Support
Administrative tasks according to needs of practice, e.g recalls and coding.
Medical form filing
Person Specification
Qualifications
Desirable:
GP Assistant Skills Certificate
Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining
NHS health check training
Phlebotomy certification
Certification in administration of injections under PSD (e.g. B12, NHS vaccines)
Other Knowledge and Skills
Essential:
Experienced in NHS Health Checks
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Strong IT skills
Clear, polite telephone manner
Effective time management (planning and organising)
Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure

Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
EMIS user skills
AccuRx user skills
