To maintain and organise the dispensary team. You will need to be able to accurately produce and dispense prescriptions and medication to patients. To operate the Practice system and liaise with the GP's to follow the financial requirements of the Practice. Maintain clear, accurate and safe systems for the control of all drug stocks . To provide training and supervise dispensary staff members as necessary.
We are looking for an NVQ2 or NVQ3 qualified dispensery lead with a natural ability to lead and develop a team of six dispensers. The ideal candidate must have pharmacy/dispensary experience with the ability to work well under pressure and the desire to learn and develop new skills. Whilst experience in managing a dispensary is desirable, the ability to demonstrate a track record of working to a high standard and paying attention to detail is a must have.
The experienced individual will provide a positive and friendly approach, who is able to manage and co-ordinate the day to day running of the dispensary and its staff, as well as support the team in maintaining Practice Standards and quality.
The candidate must have proven knowledge of dispensary processes and practices and have team management experience.
Key Duties:
Managing all dispensary staff members. Liaising with staff regarding rotas and holidays
Liaise with GP's, Nurse's, PM, DPM and other staff with regards to smooth running of the practice
Assuming responsibility for training of staff, encouraging further development where appropriate
Maintaining stock at a reasonable working level and ensuring stock rotation
Sorting prescriptions, submitting prescriptions monthly for reimbursement, completing FP34D
Correcting returned prescriptions
Assisting with the annual stock take
Oversee accuracy and efficiency of dispensing staff
Taking prescription requests and issuing repeat prescriptions to patients within the agreed time scale
Ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed
Cashing up prescription charges with the Finance Manager
Checking Health Authority Statements
Handling returned medication and dealing with uncollected medication
Adhering to Practice policies for controlled drugs
Disposing of returned and expired drugs and controlled drugs as per protocol
Action drug alert bulletins
Advise staff on completion of medication changes from hospital letters
Ensure DSQS compliance
Liaise with Outside agencies such as PSUK, AAH & Alliance
