Job Description

To provide high-quality administrative and clerical support to the GPs and wider practice team, with a specific focus on referral management, document preparation, patient queries, and liaison with secondary care services.Key Duties and Responsibilities: Manage all types of GP referrals (routine, urgent, and fast-track) via the e-Referral Service (ERS) formerly known as Choose and Book (C&B) ensuring referrals are accurate, timely, and categorised correctly. Create, format, and finalise various medical reports based on GP-written tasks. While these are not dictated in the traditional sense, the information is provided in draft form and must be transcribed onto professional, headed templates and formatted appropriately. Handle referral rejections from ERS, resolve issues and reprocess when needed.



Communicate with hospital secretaries and booking clerks to chase appointments, clarify referrals, and resolve external queries. Deal with patient queries related to referrals with empathy and professionalism. Manage Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) tasks, including registering new patients, processing departing patients, and maintaining data quality within the clinical system. Participate in team meetings, administrative updates, and support wider practice admin when required.
