Brown Brothers in Kirkconnel are currently looking for a full time Graduate Food Technologist. The hours of work are 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Salary is dependent on experience and will be discussed at interview.

Job Purpose

To support all activities related to manufacture of a safe legal product which meets customer requirements. Support new product launches after handover from NPD; create specifications, product files, QAS and labels.

Key Accountabilities

Generate and maintain library of current specifications for retail, food service, further manufacturing customers and for branded products.

Ensure that new products comply with legal requirements in addition to retailer policies / requirements prior to launch.

Create & maintain Product Files and quality attribute sheets for new and existing SKUs.

Contribute to the further development of the Quality Management System, HACCP and GMP and ensure that current systems are in place.

Generate and check new label artwork

Support EHC applications, liaising with external vet / slaughterhouse for documentation.

Complete Internal audits as per schedule against BRC Standard.

Log, trend and respond to customer complaints in conjunction with technical administrator.

Respond to customer technical enquires

Assist with maintenance of site QMS, HACCP and Good Manufacturing Practices

Support procedures to ensure consistent finished product quality

Qualifications & Experience

Food Handlers Qualification - Ideally Intermediate Food Hygiene & Intermediate HACCP Trained

Internal Audit Trained (Optional)

Experience in Food Labelling / Retailer Specification Systems

Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Food Science/Chemistry)
