York Health Economics Consortium (YHEC) is a health economic consulting company formed in 1986 and wholly owned by, and based at the University of York. We provide consultancy and research to a wide range of public and private sector bodies. We are looking to recruit a Research Assistant to undertake a wide range of projects in our Pharmaceutical Sector, with the potential to work across other sectors (for example, the MedTech sector and the Rare Diseases sector).
We have a team of around 64 staff and hold the Investors in People accreditation with our composite score of 765, against an industry benchmark of 730, putting us in the top 26% of organisations. We want staff to enjoy working at YHEC; our office is a friendly place to work and we have an employee wellbeing programme. This is based on suggestions from staff and includes lunchtime walks, sporting activities and charity fundraising events. YHEC staff nominate a charity on an annual basis and undertake fundraising throughout the year. We also have a social committee who organise events on a regular basis. We are keen to support voluntary / charitable activities and staff may set aside up to two days per year (in work time) to undertake such activities. Staff at YHEC enjoy our inclusive, flexible and friendly working environment. We currently have a hybrid approach to working with days in the office varying by individual preference, however, new joiners are asked to be in the office full time for the first six months before moving to a hybrid model.
Our Pharmaceutical Sector undertakes research to quantify the economic impact of health technologies for both large and small clients and across a broad range of therapy areas. A variety of model types are developed, including decision trees, Markov models, infectious disease models, budget impact models and patient level simulations. We work closely with our clients in preparing their submission dossiers to agencies such as NICE and we actively look to publish our work in peer-reviewed journals.
Our location means that staff have full access to the range of facilities offered by the University of York. There is free parking for YHEC staff that are based in the office and secure cycle parking. Showering facilities are available in the office. We encourage staff to engage with other research departments based at the University. The combination of our unique location and the breadth of our research portfolio makes YHEC a stimulating environment to work in, providing opportunities to work with a wide range of clients using multiple research methods. The pace of work is fast moving with quick turnaround and will appeal to people who enjoy working on multiple projects. We want to help you to further develop your professional career at YHEC.
