Job Description

SHW is an independent multi-disciplined property real estate advisory business.

We are recruiting for a Graduate Surveyor to assist in the carrying out of all aspects of commercial surveying under the supervision of the Head of Department and qualified surveyors as outlined below. The graduate training programme will commence upon completion of the probationary period within the Sussex Coast professional team working towards MRICS status.

Key responsibilities:



Within Professional Department;

Assist in the valuation of commercial and residential land and buildings in relation to capital and rental values Assist in providing Landlord and Tenant advice covering rent reviews, lease renewals, Arbitration and Independent Expert Submissions Assist in the collation of and maintaining appropriate database relating to rent reviews, lease renewals and comparables To provide full support and cover to the Professional team
General;

Maintain and develop existing client relationships, and promote new business connections and sources, and report to your Head of Department all potential new sources of professional and other work. Generally promote the firm's services wherever possible for all disciplines Comply with the administrative procedures, personnel and safety procedures, and codes of conduct, as laid down by the Company, and observe requirements of the Company's Procedure Manual and Quality Manual Attend meetings and record minutes as and when requested Provide statistical and other information as and when requested Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters concerning the company and its clients Keep up to date with any changes or proposed changes in legislation, Codes of Practice or Directives pertinent to your work Any other reasonable duties Management may request from time to time Report any potential or actual professional problems involving alleged professional misconduct, negligence or any other similar serious matter immediately to your Head of Department Ensure recovery of all fees and sums due to the Company at the earliest opportunity in respect of your own activities

Person specification - Knowledge, skills and experience required:



Basic level of technical knowledge from degree Basic and up to date level of legal knowledge Knowledge of current Company commercial activity and the services SHW offer IT literate, with an ability to use IT as a tool to support work, through effective use of databases, websites and inhouse templates Appreciation of the external factors that influence the property sector Appreciation of how a business may cross sell Some experience of working within the property sector and/or demonstrates an appreciation of working within the property sector or work experience showing an interest in the sector Ability to solve problems effectively and creatively Time Management - ability to organise own work and manage time effectively Written and verbal communication - high standard of English. Clear, concise and accurate communication Able to build and sustain positive relationships with a wide range of people Provide Customer care with the ability to listen to clients and handle them effectively Resilience - work through mistakes, handle rejection, challenges or ambiguity Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and work To achieve positive outcomes in relation to proposals, plans, and working relationships Tenacity - perseverance over a period of time to achieve objectives, irrespective of obstacles Attention to detail and accuracy, ensures activities and tasks are handled correctly and completed on time Able and willing to travel to site inspections and client meetings
